Educating children on hair hygiene and liberating them from lice, Mediker of FMCG major Marico Ltd Tuesday launched the 'Mediker Freedom' programme for children in the age group of 8 to 15 years in rural areas.
Mediker has planned to visit key areas in Tamilnadu and conduct hygiene camps. Through this programme, children and parents will be educated on the threat lice poses to personal hygiene and their psyche.
The Mediker van will be stationed at a particular point where free hair check-ups will be conducted and girls affected by lice will be given a free on-the- spot treatment with Mediker natural anti-lice oil.
Such programmes will keep them informed about the harmful effects lice cause like anemia, pediculosis, lack of concentration, bleeding through excessive scratching and social embarrassment, said R Chandrasekar, category head, Marico.
Apart from imparting education on personal hygiene in combating the menace, there will be a free hair- styling session with hair stylist. The programme will be conducted also in Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.
